Cluck Grunt and Low, Marc Thuet's attempt at Southern cooking, has shut its doors. Not surprising seeing as it got bad reviews from friends of mine who went there. I never made it through the front doors but let me tell you that their Liberty Village location just got slammed by JK and the Rosedale pastry shop doesn't seem like it's doing that well. All the cakes on the bottom shelf look old and crusty, the macroons have become half their original size and it is often empty. Is another Toronto chef on his way out?

Another One Bites the Dust

Seriously?
Turns out that the boarded up Coca may have a second life to live.
It closed after the owners sold to silent investors who bailed on the payments. Now they are gearing to re-open, and have invited Nathan Isberg back into their kitchen. This wunderkind has been known to fly off the handle in alcohol and coke induced rages.
Hope he's cleaned up his act, we don't want him poring hot oil on people's feet as a form of punishment ever again...
WELCOME!
This blog is your guide to Toronto best restaurant gossip. Let start off with a bang. Joanne Kates tore apart Lakes Restaurant in her most recent restaurant review. Is anyone fucking surprised? Of new chef Jason Maw, formerly sous chef at Babo, she says:
"An optimist could be forgiven for assuming that any chef who worked for Bob Bermann, Boba's over-achieving chef, would be excellent. Hence my disappointment at the indifferent state of Lakes's current kitchen."
If you just asked anyone in Rosedale, they would tell you to skip over Lakes. There are far too many good places to eat (ie Pastis, Abbot on the Hill, The Rosedale Diner) to possibly waste your precious time and money on a crapshot.
